Events We Do Throughout the Year

Ocklawaha River Cleanup

This generally occurs in February and or March. We choose two Saturdays, 1st we clean from Rays Wayside to Gores Landing, 2nd we clean from Gores Landing to Eureka.  Volunteer hours are turned into Marion County Parks and Recreations and FL Greenways and Trails.  Over the years, many, many bags of trash have been pulled off the river by the club.  Come join us in this rewarding event.  But if you do consider bringing a "grabber" to extend your reach.

Fundraiser

Between January and the Poker Run we have a fundraiser - a Drawing for a Kayak.  The dollars raised here provide for the business needs of the club, parties and donations to various groups. We ask from our members to help assist in this endeavor by selling tickets, either as individuals or at Ticket Sales events held at various accommodating Businesses and Community Events.  2011 Kayak Drawing

Annual Paddlers Poker Run

For 2012 the Club is postponing the Poker Run to another year.  We are in the process of reorganizing and are unable to provide the time, energy and manpower to operate this event to the standards of the last several and therefore have decided to forgo this event this year.

September Party and River Cleanup

In September we have a party that follows a cleanup of a local river.

Christmas Party

Generally held at Ocala Outdoor Adventure Camp on the 2nd weekend in December.  Camping or use of the cabins are available through the weekend.  On Saturday we have a covered dish dinner, sit around a campfire and have a gift exchange.  You can paddle and/or fish on Lake Eaton or just enjoy the solitude while standing on a dock looking over the water.  And there are a few trails on site.
