Hi there Aquaholics!!!
Are you ready for a summer with plenty of paddling involved?? We have a quite a few trips and events planned to help you maximize your summer fun! Check out the list of trips on our calander. Highlights include a moonlight paddle in both July and August and a September cookout as well as many other trips! If there are any trips or activities you would like to see added that aren't included, let us know. We do our best but your input and participation always help.
I know I wrote quite a bit about the Poker Run last month, but I just wanted to let you all know that we (the aquaholics) were able to donate TWO kayaks with paddles to the Ocala Outdoor Adventure Camp as a result of the Poker Run proceeds. They will be used to help teach kids water safety and paddling skills.
The club now has a new trailer! It was purchased shortly after the members attending the May meeting voted to purchase it along with selected accessories. Member Jerry Allen put the finishing touches on it by adding shelves and decals. It was available for viewing and inspection during the June meeting. Of course, that wasn't until after everyone had their share of the Papa John's pizzas we supplied for the meeting as advertised in last month's newsletter! Everyone there seemed quite pleased with both the pizza and the trailer!!
We had self adhesive decals printed up with the club's name in a circle with a kayak in the center and the club's web site address on a separate sticker to go under the decal. The decals are white lettering on a transparent backing. the web site address is also white lettering. They look great on rear windshields! The decals are available to club members for $5 per set. They can be purchased at our club meetings or by contacting JJ at 352-341-0506.
We now have the pavillion at Ray Wayside Park reserved for a combination cookout /Silver River paddle/cleanup on Saturday, September 27th, 2008. Members Don & Wayne have voluntreered to do the cooking and it looks like we are going to have a quite a meal and hopfully quite a summer! Until next month, paddle often and paddle safe.
