Homossassa River Paddle June 30th, 2012
The TC for today was JJ Hansen. Today we launched and returned to RiverSports Kayak. There was no sign of Captain Kirk anywhere. The store has expanded into more of the building so it can carry more items for us to choose from.
As we gently paddled down the river we came upon monkey island. The monkeys were extremely active this Saturday morning. They always put a smile on our faces. We continued to glide with ease as we headed for the springs. We didn't see any manatee today but we always hope we will. They'll be back when the cold weather arrives. We did see some birds and lots of lush green foliage. It was apparent the recent rain blessed the landscape abundantly. Best of all was the laughter that seemed to be contagious. Although it was contagious it was also the best cure for most everything that may have touched us in a negative way all week long. The river was rather choppy on the return trip as the large boats began to make waves in the water. The fresh air, sunshine, exercise, laughter and good food made our day one worth living. We ended our trip with a late lunch at the RiverSide a short walk from our launch site.
