Weeki Wachee Springs 1-21-2012
The sun was rising above the horizon as I made my way to the Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. The temperature is predicted to be in the high seventies. Wayne was the TC today and made sure that all the details of our trip went smooth.
As we launched Debbie's guest Scott decided to take a swim. Oh sorry I guess he fell out of his kayak. Some paddlers kept getting stuck in trees along the corners of the river. Fred and Scott took turns on a rope swing and took a plunge in the water. Wayne's brother rescued a family of three after they cap-sized their canoe. We were graced with the presence of several manatee along our way.
We had a late lunch or early dinner at Bev's biker bar also known as the Bayport Inn. I can say that we had plenty to laugh about as we waited for our meals.
We had 15 paddlers today and we could not have asked for more fun day. I want to thank everyone who came out and made my day such a special one. For everyone who missed this trip I say, I hope to see you out on the river with the club soon.
